CCTV released as police appeal after Nelson Bay marina fire, NSW

Detectives investigating a fire and vessel break-in at a Nelson Bay marina last year have released CCTV footage and are appealing for public assistance.

About 2.30am on Wednesday 8 August 2018, emergency services were called to the d'Albora Marina on Teramby Road, following reports of vessels on fire.

Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the fire caused significant damage to three vessels and the marina.

A moored vessel was also broken into, and cash was stolen.

A crime scene was established and forensically examined.

Following inquiries, a 23-year-old man was charged at the time. He remains before the courts.

Investigators from the Marine Area Command have now released CCTV footage of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man depicted is aged in his 50s, with a beard, and barefoot. He is wearing a dark coloured jacket and carrying a bag.

Inquiries are continuing.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
