The AMA Council of Doctors in Training convened its first meeting of the year on 29 March. The meeting featured a presentation from Kate Lynch, CEO of Medical Deans of Australia and New Zealand, who discussed proposals to expand the domestic medical workforce.
Members engaged in an in-depth discussion on workforce policy and the evolving role of junior doctors in modern healthcare. The Council also approved its 2025 Operational Plan during the session.
Additional agenda items included comprehensive updates from state representatives, special interest group chairs, and the Australian Medical Students' Association regarding their current initiatives.
The Council is committed to advancing medical advocacy across Australia through collaboration among doctors in training, with further updates on their work to follow throughout 2025.
