Residents are advised that a temporary road closure will be in place at the Centenary Avenue and Coburns Road roundabout in Melton West as upgrade works are carried out during the September school holidays.
The western side of Centenary Avenue at the roundabout will be temporarily closed from Monday 22 September to Saturday 4 October, as Council adds an additional lane to reduce congestion and improve safety.
Council has scheduled these works during the upcoming school holidays, to minimise disruption to the community.
Currently, Centenary Avenue experiences a high volume of traffic congestion, due to there being only a single lane entry to the roundabout from the western side. The additional lane will increase the capacity of the roundabout, resulting in improved traffic flow.
A new footpath will also be constructed at the roundabout as part of these works a to improve pedestrian access and safety.
To allow for these works to take place, one lane will close on Coburns Road at the southern side of the roundabout.
Preliminary site preparation will commence on Friday 12 September. This will not impact road users.
Detours will be in place for the duration of the road closure, including via Rosyln Park Drive or Westmelton Drive. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
Heavy vehicles will detour via High Street.
