Central Goldfields Shire Administrator Karen Douglas, who will launch the exhibition, said the calibre of work the Art Gallery attracts is impressive.

"Deborah is a renowned artist who has exhibited overseas and is well known for her sculpture Angel, which stood in the National Gallery of Victoria's moat for many years before being relocated to Birrarung Marr, near Federation Square.

"The Deborah Halpern exhibition will attract many visitors from near and far," she said.

Former Gallery of Victoria Australian Art Senior Curator, David Hurlston has provided a glowing exhibition catalogue in the lead up to the launch.

"People are naturally drawn to Deborah's work," Mr Hurlston writes.

"Her many commissioned sculptures around Australia are regularly cited as amongst our most popular and engaging public works."

The exhibition will continue until 23 June, 2019.

Central Goldfields Art Gallery is open from Thursday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm and is located at Old Fire Station, Neill Street, Maryborough.
