Households, businesses and farms in the Central Goldfields Shire can now access cost-effective solar thanks to a partnership between Central Goldfields Shire Council and the More Australian Solar Homes (MASH) initiative.

The MASH Solar Bulk Buy program aims to make it easier for households and businesses to go solar, and save on their energy bills, with an option they can trust.

Central Goldfields Shire Council Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said Council is pleased to be a partner of the MASH community solar bulk-buy.

"MASH is owned by the not-for-profit Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance which works with councils – including ours – to encourage the switch to renewable energy.

"Our Shire already has a lot of solar but there's definitely room for more. As a Council, we're keen to encourage more homes, businesses and farms to 'go solar' and we believe the MASH has a good offering.

"Plus, MASH will give back to the Central Goldfields Shire community in the form of free solar for community buildings and schools. If you are thinking solar, we encourage you take a look at what MASH offers."

Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance Program Lead for Solar Bulk Buys Joanna Kaptein said the launch of MASH Solar Bulk Buy is good timing for households.

"There's attractive rebates and financial incentives for homes and businesses such as the Victorian Government's Solar Homes Program, which provides rebates of up to $1,850 for solar panels systems for eligible households as well as rental properties.

"There are also tax incentives as well as sources of low-cost finance to help businesses 'go solar' and benefit immediately from the savings.

"Local installers and local community groups can be part of the program too.
