CFMEU calls on big builders to donate to bushfire relief

CFMEU Construction and General Division National Executive

The CFMEU National Construction Division is calling on big builders and property developers to step up and donate to bushfire relief efforts.

"Some in the construction industry have been slow to commit to bushfire relief efforts and we need to see more positive action now," said Nigel Davies, Acting Secretary of the CFMEU National Construction Division.

"The CFMEU has been calling all week for the construction industry to follow our lead and donate generously to bushfire relief and today welcomes the news that the Master Builders have donated to the cause."

"We now need to see real commitments from more big construction companies and property developers."

"It's time for companies like John Holland, CPB Contractors, Muliplex, Probuild, Hutchinson and many more to open their wallets and give generously."

"We've already seen some companies like Lendlease and Stockland make significant donations as well as commit to match employee donations. The rest of the industry now needs to follow suit."

"As an industry we will all need to come together to help with the mammoth rebuilding and reconstruction efforts that will be needed in these devastated communities."

"Today we want everyone in construction to pull out the corporate chequebook and give money to support the people and communities who need it right now."
