CFMEU members accused of misconduct at recent demonstrations face Divisional Branch Management Committee Meeting.

The CFMEU's Divisional Branch Management Committee (DBMC) was convened this week for the purpose of considering charges against union members who were accused of engaging in gross misbehaviour under the union's rules in relation to their roles in the September demonstration held at the front of the CFMEU head office.

The members faced the committee with allegations including gross misconduct by throwing bottles at union officials and vandalising union property.

Some of the members who were found guilty of the charges have been expelled from the union, while others have had their memberships' suspended until the end of March. There were also members who were exonerated of any charges.

The role of the DBMC is to provide members with the opportunity to defend themselves of any allegations made to the committee. It is then the DBMC's responsibility to decide on the outcome following in accordance with the rules of the union.

Feedback from DBMC committee members who attended, viewed the meeting as fair, the outcome of which was that the accused members had a proper opportunity to present their case.

The union will continue to review video and photo evidence along with witness statements to determine whether further charges should be brought against any other members involved in the September demonstration
