Regarding recent media reports, myself and John are working very hard together to repair our relationship and raise our children in a loving family. Together we are seeking to heal from the damage caused by the relentless attacks we've endured from political and ideological forces seeking to tear us down.
John and I are both emotional people who wear our hearts on our sleeves and having your partner falsely accused of blackmail is not a burden I would wish on any marriage. This has led us to both saying and doing things that we regret but we want to be very clear that there has never been any violence in our home. While times have been tough recently, none of these issues in any way detract from the deep love, mutual respect and kindness that underpins our relationship.
Individuals are using our personal lives to wage a political war with no regard as to the effect this has on myself, my children and John. We request that our deeply private affairs please be kept out of the political arena as it's causing great distress for us all.
I am pleased that John has returned to work as Secretary of the CFMMEU where he's spent the last 35 years tirelessly defending the health, safety and living standards of tens of thousands of construction workers and their families.
