Change To Parking Conditions Near New Cranbourne Community Hospital

We are disappointed by the circumstances surrounding parking arrangements at the soon to be opened Cranbourne Community Hospital. We initially raised concerns with both the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) and Monash Health regarding car parking very early on in the land sale process.

Despite repeated efforts over the past 18-24 months to obtain clarity regarding the hospital's opening date and on-site parking provisions, Council only received formal advice in August 2025. It's at this time we were informed that the hospital would open in early October, with approximately 200 staff car parking spaces to be provided. We were also advised that the hospital's operating hours would significantly exceed those initially proposed. These extended operating hours will place additional pressure on the surrounding area including the Casey Complex, especially during peak periods such as after school hours, weekends and during school holidays.

Council has worked closely with service providers to identify practical measures that prioritise community safety and manage the impact on parking. However, the late notification from the State has left Council with limited options and a tight timeframe to respond to these parking challenges.

To ensure equitable access to parking and maintain safety across the precinct, Council will implement timed parking restrictions to manage demand and support continued access for Casey Complex users and hospital staff.

We acknowledge the significance of the hospital's opening for our community and remain committed to monitoring, testing, and refining these parking arrangements as needed.
