Changes to City of Adelaide community facilities

In response to the Prime Minister's announcement of restrictions on non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people, the City of Adelaide will today be temporarily closing a number of its public facilities. These include the Adelaide Aquatic Centre, City Libraries, Community Centres and Adelaide Town Hall (tours, events and functions).

These cautionary measures are in place to protect the health and wellbeing of the community and Council staff.

The Lord Mayor said the City of Adelaide is working hard to support the community during this difficultperiod.

A Special Council Meeting was convened by the Lord Mayor on Monday where Council committed to implementing a package of support for local residents and businesses to address the social, cultural and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are absolutely determined to do everything we can to assist our residents, businesses, visitors and staff during this uncertain and challenging time," said the Lord Mayor.

"Council takes our role in supporting the State Government, SA Health and all stakeholders very seriously, so that everyone who spends time in the city is kept informed and are as safe as possible.

"Cautionary measures such as these facility closures are only in place to protect the community and our employees, and to support coronavirus containment efforts.

"We don't take this decision lightly but we're confident it's the right decision as part of our duty of care to the community during this unique and challenging time."

The City of Adelaide encourages people to visit the Customer Services website or call 8203 7203 should they have questions about Council services or any other questions.
