Charge over home invasion - Epping

A man has been charged following an alleged aggravated break and enter at a home in Epping this morning.

About 3.45am (Saturday 15 October 2022), officers from Ryde Police Area Command were called to a home on Fernhill Avenue, following reports of a home invasion.

Police have been told a man allegedly forced his way into the home and assaulted a 73-year-old man.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – inflict actual bodily harm.

He has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 16 October 2022).

The resident was taken by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Ryde Hospital to be treated for facial injuries.

A 71-year-old woman, who was also in the home at the time of the incident, was not injured.
