Charges after assault at fast-food restaurant, NSW

Police have charged a man after a customer was seriously assaulted at a fast food restaurant in Circular Quay this morning, NSW Police say.

A 24-year-old man was struck to the head with a stool at the restaurant at the intersection of Alfred and Loftus streets, about 3am (Saturday 1 December 2018).

Witnesses contacted authorities and Sydney Police Area Command officers attended and arrested a 49-year-old man.

The injured man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital suffering a 5cm laceration, a swollen eye and bruising to the left side of his face.

The 49-year-old man was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 19 December 2018.
