Charges Filed After Liverpool Stolen Car Chase

Two men have been charged following the pursuit of an alleged stolen vehicle in Sydney's south west today.

About 6:30am (Tuesday 14 April 2026), police were patrolling Elizabeth Drive, Mount Pritchard, when they sighted an allegedly stolen Mitsubishi Triton.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated by officers attached to Liverpool Police Area Command with the assistance of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command.

The pursuit continued on Hoxton Park Road, Liverpool, when near the intersection of the Hume Highway, the allegedly stolen Triton collided with a Ford Ranger utility, driven by a 27-year-old man, and an Isuzu utility, driven by a 53-year-old man.

The pursuit was immediately terminated.

The Triton continued along the Hume Highway and collided with a third vehicle, a Hyundai I30, driven by a 27-year-old man near the intersection of Memorial Avenue.

The Triton is alleged to have collided with a fourth vehicle, a Jeep Compass, driven by a 48-year-old woman, and a steel fence dividing north and southbound lanes, near the intersection of Castlereagh and Elizabeth Street, Liverpool.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of the collisions with the four vehicles.

The driver of the Triton – a 36-year-old man – and a male passenger allegedly ran from the vehicle.

The driver allegedly entered the underground car park of a shopping centre on Elizabeth Street, Liverpool, where a Taser was deployed during the arrest of the man.

The passenger – a 34-year-old man – was arrested by police in the yard of a residence on Bathurst Street, Liverpool.

Police allegedly located a bag, believed to belong to the man in the yard of a house on Castlereagh Street.

A search of the bag allegedly located a quantity of drugs, resealable bags and keys to two other vehicles.

The two men were taken to Liverpool Police Station where the older man was charged with:

  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
  • Drive, licence suspended under s66 Fines Act
  • Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
  • Destroy of damage property less than or equal to $2000
  • Not give particulars to owner of damaged property
  • Four counts of not give particulars to other driver

The man was later taken to Liverpool Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing and treatment of a suspected fractured collarbone.

The younger man was charged with:

  • Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
  • Assault police officer in execution of duty without ABH
  • Two counts of supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity
  • Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity
  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner
  • Goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen

They were refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 14 April 2026).
