Charges following allegations of sexual misconduct at CFB Edmonton, AB

On May 3, 2019 the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) charged a citizen contracted by the Sturgeon District School Board under the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC). The charges relate to one incident involving a student at Guthrie Elementary School located on base at CFB Edmonton at the end of April 2019.

Ms Milja Vlahovic, a school maintenance employee under contract at Guthrie Elementary School faces the following charges:

  • One (1) count of Sexual Assault contrary to section 271 of the CCC;
  • One (1) count of Sexual Interference contrary to section 151 of the CCC.

In all cases, the subject of charges is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The matter is now proceeding through the civilian justice system. The accused's first appearance will be at the Provincial Court House in Morinville, AB and has been scheduled for today.

As part of the charge laying process, there were conditions imposed on the accused, preventing her from being in a position of trust or authority to any person under the age of 16 without the presence of a responsible adult.
