Charges following St Kilda assault

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged one person in relation to an assault and robbery in St Kilda last week that left two men unconscious, Victoria Police say.

A number of males are still wanted in relation to the incident as the investigation continues.

Police have been told three men were walking along the foreshore about 11.15pm when they were approached by a group of males.

The group, unprovoked, began to assault the trio, punching and kicking them.

One of the victims, a 24-year-old Burwood East man sustained a broken nose and facial bruising.

The second victim, a 26-year-old Wheelers Hill man was kicked in the head and suffered lacerations to his face.

Both men were taken to hospital.

The third victim, a 20-year-old Vermont South man sustained minor injuries but declined treatment.

Investigators have released images and footage of a number of males who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

All are perceived as African in appearance.

The 18-year-old Point Cook man has been charged with intentionally and recklessly cause injury, affray, riotous behaviour and assault with a weapon.

He has been remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Anyone with information, who recognises the males or who may have footage of the incident are urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
