Charges laid after assault at aged care facility in Northern Beaches

A man has been charged after alleged assaults at an aged care facility on Sydney’s northern beaches. , NSW Police say

Between Sunday 26 and Wednesday 29 August 2018, police will allege a male employee at an aged care facility on Sydney Road, Seaforth, entered the room of a patient on a number of occasions.

The man allegedly assaulted an 82-year-old man.

Just before 2pm yesterday (Wednesday 5 September 2018), a 35-year-old man was arrested at a Wheeler Heights address and taken to Manly Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of common assault (DV), and use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.

The man was granted conditional bail and will appear at Manly Local Court on Tuesday 11 September 2018.

Elder abuse can take various forms such as physical, psychological, emotional, or financial abuse, Superintendent David Darcy from Northern Beaches Police Area Command said.

"These vulnerable people need the communities help to be their voice.

"To see an elderly man treated in this way is disgraceful," Superintendent Darcy said.
