Charges laid after home destroyed and car stolen near Wagga Wagga, NSW

A woman will face court after allegedly lighting a fire and stealing a car in the state’s Riverina region last month, NSW Police say.

About 11.30pm on Wednesday 4 April 2018, emergency services were called to a home on Argus Street, Narrandera (approximately 100kms west of Wagga Wagga), after reports a property was on fire.

The blaze was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW, however the home was destroyed.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District spoke with a woman a short distance away where she was arrested.

The 47-year-old woman was taken to Narrandera Police Station, before being taken to Narrandera Hospital for assessment.

Police will also allege the woman stole a vehicle, which was later located near the Murrumbidgee River boat-ramp.

Yesterday (Tuesday 1 May 2018) the woman was charged with damage property by fire and steal motor vehicle.

She was granted conditional bail and will appear at Narrandera Local Court on Friday 22 June 2018.
