A Lone Wolf Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) member will face court today charged with firearms offences by detectives investigating the alleged shooting murder of Mahmoud ‘Mick’ Hawi, NSW Police say.
Just after midday on Thursday 15 February 2018, emergency services were called to a gym on West Botany Street, following reports Mahmoud Hawi, 37, had been shot as he got into his car.
He was treated on scene before being taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad established Strike Force Amirs to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Three men – aged 38, 37, and 36 – have been charged over their alleged role and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, Strike Force Amirs detectives located a loaded .22 calibre revolver during a search at a basement car park in Macquarie Street, Sydney, on Friday 21 September 2018.
Following forensic examinations, investigators charged a 37-year-old man with possess unauthorised pistol, not keep firearm safely-not prohibited firearm, and acquire pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order.
The man, who is a member of the Lone Wolf OMCG, was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Monday 22 October 2018).
Investigations under Strike Force Amirs are continuing.
