Charges laid after man assaulted in Surry Hills

Police have executed two search warrants and charged two people after a man was allegedly assaulted at a brothel Sydney’s inner-city last month, NSW Police say.

Police will allege in court just after 2.30am on Tuesday 26 June 2018, a 23-year-old man entered the venue on Cleveland Street, Surry Hills, when he was approached by two men and a woman, who allegedly assaulted him.

Officers attached to Surry Hills Police Area Command were alerted and commenced inquiries into the incident.

Following investigations, police executed two simultaneous search warrants at businesses in Surry Hills, about 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday 4 July 2018), and seized a number of items.

Two men, aged 30 and 31, were arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station, and a 32-year-old woman attended the station a short time later and was also arrested.

The 31-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were both charged with take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both were refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court today (Thursday 5 July 2018).

The 30-year-old man was released pending further inquiries.
