A man has been charged over a single-vehicle fatal crash in the state's north-west last year.
About 12.50am on Sunday 28 October 2018, emergency services were called to Yarrie Lake Road, Wee Waa, about 40kms west of Narrabri, following reports a Honda All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) had crashed after leaving the roadway.
Emergency services attended and commenced CPR on a passenger – a 27-year-old man – however, he died at the scene.
The driver, a 37-year-old man a second passenger, aged 25, were taken to Narrabri Hospital and treated for their injuries.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced by officers from Oxley Police District and the Crash Investigation Unit.
Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 37-year-old man at Narrabri Police Station today (Tuesday 19 February 2019).
He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive under influence, negligent driving (occasioning death), dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive under the influence, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), drive with middle range PCA, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, and handle/use firearm under the influence of alcohol/drug.
The Wee Waa man was granted conditional bail to appear at Narrabri Local Court on Tuesday 23 April 2019.
A report has been prepared for the Coroner.
