Charges laid over indecent assaults against boy, 14, in Sydney's inner west

Police have charged a man over historical aggravated indecent assaults which are alleged to have occurred in Sydney’s inner west in the 1990s, NSW Police say.

Between October 1994 and October 1996, police will allege a man indecently assaulted and committed acts of indecency against a 14-year-old boy on a number of occasions while they were both employed at a pizza restaurant in Blackwall Point Road, near Bortfield Drive, at Chiswick.

In May 2017, officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 56-year-old man was arrested at a correctional facility in Kirkconnell and taken to Bathurst Police Station on Wednesday 25 July 2018.

He was charged with aggravated indecent assault – victim under authority of offender (x7), aggravated indecency – victim under 16 and under authority of offender (x3), and aggravated indecency – victim 16 or over and under authority of offender.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Lithgow Local Court on Thursday 26 July 2018 where he was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court on Thursday 13 September 2018.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information is urged to come forward.
