Charges laid over malicious damage and break in, NSW

A man faced court today charged over the malicious damage of a vehicle and the break-in of a home on the Central Coast overnight., NSW Police say

About 8.40pm (Saturday 14 July 2018), the driver of a Toyota Echo parked at a fast food outlet in Lake Haven, when he and four female passengers were approached by a man armed with a knife and threatened.

The man jumped on the bonnet before kicking the windscreen causing it to smash.

The man fled and police were notified.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District attended and commenced inquires.

A short time later, the garage of a home on Courigal Drive was broken into and a Holden Commodore stolen.

Police attended and located the vehicle abandoned nearby before establishing a perimeter.

Despite a search of the area, with the assistance of the Police Dog Unit, the man was not located.

Following inquiries, officers attended a home on Phyllis Street at Kanwal about 1.30am (Sunday 15 July 2019), and arrested an 18-year-old man.

He was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with armed with intent commit indictable offence, destroy or damage property, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, enter dwelling with intent (steal), take & drive conveyance without consent of owner, and an outstanding warrant.

The man appeared at Wyong Local Court today (Sunday 15 July 2018) and was bail refused to appear at the same court on Wednesday (18 July 2018).

Inquiries are continuing and further charges are anticipated.
