Charges - Unlawful entries - Katherine

Police in Katherine have charged a 17-year-old male in relation to five unlawful entries dating back to July.

It is alleged that the male unlawfully entered five commercial premises and stole cash, alcohol and a motorbike. Two offences allegedly occurred on 30 July and 6 August with three on the evening of 17 September, Northern Territory Police say.

He has been charged with five counts of unlawful entry, five counts of stealing and three counts of damage to property. He was bailed to appear in the Katherine Youth Justice Court on 12 October 2018.

A 15-year-old male was also charged after police allegedly found him in possession of a bag containing stolen property.

It is alleged the property had been stolen from a number of commercial premises around Katherine during the evening of 23 September and morning of 24 September.

He was also found to be in possession of cannabis.

The 15-year-old was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a Schedule 2 dangerous drug (less than traffickable quantity) and breach of bail. He was bailed to appear in the Katherine Youth Justice Court on 2 November 2018.

Acting Superintendent of the Katherine Division Dave Hamlyn said that investigations are continuing and further arrests are expected.
