The Crisafulli Government has donated $400,000 to help charities provide crucial support for Queenslanders doing it tough this Christmas.
St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland, The Salvation Army, The Smith Family and UnitingCare Community will each receive $100,000 for their Christmas Appeals to help make the holiday period more comfortable for those in need.
The donations will go towards initiatives such as accommodation support, food hampers for families, and gifts for children – providing hope for the future and some Christmas cheer at a challenging time.
Premier David Crisafulli said the donations would make a difference in helping vulnerable Queenslanders get the support they need this Christmas.
"We want to ensure these charities are there when Queenslanders need them– providing a roof over their head, food to eat and something to look forward to," Premier Crisafulli said.
"We are continuing to back these hardworking charities, to deliver the support needed not only at Christmas but year-round.
"Christmas is about giving back and I want to thank all the staff and volunteers who are generously giving their time and effort to support others this year."
