Tasmanian Bakeries, the home of National Pies, has announced the awaited return of its cult-classic Cheeseburger Pie. This fan-favourite limited edition is back by popular demand, available exclusively at select Bunnings Warehouse Cafes nationwide. Fans will need to move fast, as the Cheeseburger Pie is only slated to remain on the menu until supplies last.
First introduced in 2022, the hearty Cheeseburger Pie became an overnight sensation, breaking records as National Pies' best-selling limited release at Bunnings. The hype was so significant that it even outpaced the brand's iconic Classic Beef pie, resulting in a complete sell-out across Bunnings Warehouse Cafes within weeks of its debut.
Tasmanian Bakeries CEO Geraldine Tebbutt explained that the return of the icon was a long time coming.
"We've always known the Cheeseburger Pie held a special place with our customers, and we're thrilled to bring that magic back to Bunnings," Geraldine said.
"When we first launched the Cheeseburger Pie in 2022, the response was truly tremendous. We've been flooded with requests to bring it back ever since, as fans simply couldn't get enough of the way it combines two absolute classics – the traditional meat pie and the iconic cheeseburger.
"We felt the time was finally right to relaunch this popular limited-edition variety for those who missed out the first time and we couldn't ask for a better partner than Bunnings to revive this fan-favourite."
To achieve the ultimate flavour profile, National Pies crafted the Cheeseburger Pie using 100% Australian beef, a signature dash of tomato ketchup and American-style mustard. For that authentic cheeseburger tang, the recipe includes dill pickle juice and a rich cheese sauce, all encased in National Pies' famous 128 layers of crispy puff pastry. The final touch: a golden finish, topped with poppy seeds and a savoury sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
While the Cheeseburger Pie is currently available exclusively at select Bunnings Warehouse Cafes nationally for $5.80 each, the wider range of National Pies' classics can be found at Woolworths, Coles and leading independent retailers including IGA and Foodworks, across Australia.
