We have renewed Cheltenham Golf Club's lease on the Cheltenham Golf Course site for a further 21 years.
The decision is subject to Ministerial Approval as the site is Crown Land.
The lease renewal will maintain Cheltenham Golf Club's management of the site, where it has operated as a public golf club since 1930.
The lease has been awarded with the provision that the club will undertake works to rectify safety issues and revitalise the natural environment around the site.
Council undertook community consultation on Cheltenham Golf Club's lease proposal following the August Council meeting.
The overwhelming support for the Cheltenham Golf Club lease renewal (1,138, 96%) is grounded in its role as an inclusive, affordable, and multi-use community asset that delivers health, social, environmental, and economic benefits.
Bayside Mayor, Councillor Debbie Taylor-Haynes said: "Cheltenham Golf Club supports community health, wellbeing, and social connection for golfers and other visitors.
"The lease renewal ensures that the site will be affordable and accessible for all members of our community for the foreseeable future."
