Child approach deemed misunderstanding in Blackheath

Police investigating a reported child approach at Blackheath today, have determined the incident was the result of a misunderstanding.

Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command had been investigating a report of a child approach involving an eleven-year-old girl on Govetts Leap Road, Blackheath today (Tuesday 19 February 2019).

Police were told the girl had been approached after she got off a school bus in the afternoon, with the man running and pointing towards her.

Following inquiries and after speaking with the man, police are satisfied the incident was not a child approach, but instead a misunderstanding, as the man was running to catch what he thought was a public bus.

Police are satisfied there was no attempt to approach the child.
