Child critical after near-drowning - south west Sydney

A baby boy remains in a critical condition after being pulled from a backyard pool in Sydney's south-west last night.

About 7.30pm (Wednesday 20 October 2021), emergency services responded to reports of a concern for welfare at a house on Lockheed Street, Raby.

Upon arrival, officers attached to Campbelltown Police Area Command found a 20-month-old boy who had been pulled from a backyard pool, unconscious and unresponsive.

The boy was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Children's Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

A crime scene has been established. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue; however, the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
