Child dies after being struck by car near Port Stephens, NSW

A child has died after being struck by a vehicle in state’s Hunter Region, NSW Police say.

Just before 7.30am today (Monday 5 February 2018), emergency services were called to Warrigal Close, Brandy Hill, following reports a child had been hit by a car.

The 15-year-old girl was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but she died at scene.

The driver, a man believed to be in his 40s, was taken for mandatory testing and is assisting police with inquiries.

Officers attached to Port Stephens Hunter Police District with assistance from Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Inquiries are continuing.
