Child dies in hospital after Kenthurst crash

A child has died following a crash in Sydney's north west last week.

Shortly after 4pm Thursday (13 January 2022), emergency services were called to Annangrove Road, near Aston Road, Kenthurst, following reports a red Mazda 2 and grey Toyota Hilux had collided.

The driver of the Mazda – a 33-year-old woman – and her passenger – a five-year-old boy – suffered serious injuries.

The boy was transported to the Children's Hospital at Westmead, where he later died.

The woman was taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.

The driver of the Hilux – an 18-year-old man – was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attended, and the scene was forensically examined.

As inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue, investigators urge any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision in the area at the time to come forward.
