Child exploitation arrest in Cunnamulla, QLD

The Queensland Police Service and Australian Federal Police Joint Agency Child Exploitation Team (JACET) have closed an operation targeting possession of child exploitation material in Southern Queenslan, Queensland Police sayd

On February 16, detectives executed a search warrant at a Cunnamulla address and seized computer equipment and other electronic devices.

As a result of the investigation, a 65-year-old Cunnamulla man was charged with three counts of grooming a child under 16 and possess child exploitation material.

He is due to appear in the Cunnamulla Magistrates Court today.

Police from the Darling Downs District simultaneously executed a search warrant at Geham address where similar material was located and seized.

As a result, a 54-year-old Geham man was charged with two counts of possession of child exploitation material.

He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on March 12.

Police will allege that the two men had been contacting each other over the internet, with investigations continuing into whether there are further people in a broader network of associates.
