Child hit by car in Penrith

Police are investigating after a boy was struck by a car in Sydney’s west today, NSW Police say.

The boy, aged between eight and 12-years-old, was riding his scooter on the footpath along High Street, Penrith about 2.35pm today, when he was hit by a car.

It’s believed the boy was crossing the driveway of a child care centre when he was struck.

The boy suffered a leg injury and was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Officers from Penrith Local Area Command have attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Inquiries are continuing.
