Child injured after hit by car - Gymea

A child is in a serious condition after being hit by a car in Sydney's south today.

Just before 5pm (Thursday 22 October 2020), emergency services were called to Gymea Bay Road, Gymea, after reports a child had been hit by a car.

Police have been told the 12-year-old boy was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a Chrysler 300C.

He was treated at the scene for suspected head injuries before being taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, was not injured. He was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result.

Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
