A child and rider have been injured following a crash involving a police motorcycle today at Heathfield.
Just after 12.30pm today (Saturday 18 January) a police motorcycle involved in road closures for the Tour Down Under, collided with a child crossing Longwood Road.
The child was holding the lead to a dog that ran onto the road in front of the police motorcycle. The police rider took evasive action in an attempt to avoid the collision.
The child received minor injuries and has been conveyed to the Women's and Children's Hospital. The police officer also received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
