Georges River Council is excited to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Children's Book Week from 16 - 24 August 2025, with a vibrant program of events designed to spark imagination, creativity, and a lifelong love of reading.
This year's theme, Book an Adventure, invites readers of all ages to embark on literary journeys by visiting any of Council's library branches.
Across the week, families can enjoy a series of themed activities including special Storytime sessions featuring shortlisted titles, after-school weaving workshops, the Book an Adventure Passport competition, and Book Week Bingo for young adult readers.
In addition to celebrate book lovers of all ages, Georges River Libraries will host a Storyshare event, a unique opportunity to connect with inspiring creatives from the local community. This year's guest speaker is Sydney-based author and publisher Ashton Cartwright, who will share his journey from book lover to founder of Ashton Publishing Group.
With over 100 titles published, including Amazon and New York Times bestsellers, Ashton brings valuable insight into the world of writing and publishing. His works are published in six languages and multiple formats, including audiobooks.
Ashton is also the author of 'How to Be an Author: 36 Real Authors Talk Writing and Publishing' and has spent more than a decade helping writers reach wider audiences through his company.
Mayor Elise Borg said "Children's Book Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate storytelling and encourage a lifelong love of reading in our community.
"We are proud to offer a fun and inclusive program that invites children and families to learn, explore, and connect through books.
"I encourage everyone to book their own adventure at our libraries this August."
