Knox Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following an attempted burglary in Rowville on Christmas eve.
It's believed the unknown offender attempted to gain access to the church on Stud Road around 8.30am on Thursday 24 December.
The offender was disturbed by a person in the church and fled in a white van.
Police have released images of a man and a vehicle they believe may assist them with their enquiries.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance with balding hair.
