Celebrate the magic of Christmas in the heart of Geelong when two festive favourites join forces for a free family event next month.
The City of Greater Geelong is partnering with Denis Walter OAM to bring double the cheer to a sparkling evening of carols and lights at the Steampacket Gardens precinct on Saturday 22 November.
The much-loved Carols by the Bay will run from 7.45pm to 9.30pm, pausing at 9pm for a lucky competition winner to light the iconic Floating Christmas Tree.
There will be big screens, Santa, singalongs, and special guests joining the fun on stage.
A feast of food and beverage options will be available from nearby eateries and food trucks, or you can pack a picnic.

Christmas in Geelong is always such a special time – a chance for our community to come together, celebrate with loved ones, and share the joy of the season. To see Carols by the Bay unite with the lighting of our iconic Floating Christmas Tree will be a truly magical moment for all ages.
The joint event marks the launch of our Christmas in Geelong program for 2025, which runs until 7 January 2026.
Traditional favourites are back, like the City Hall projections and rows of Christmas tree cut-outs decorated by local schools in Johnstone Park. New additions include Windows of the World, reflecting our vibrant community, and a lively buskers' trail through central Geelong.

This time of year holds a special place in the hearts of residents, businesses and visitors. We're delighted to deliver a variety of fun festive opportunities for families to enjoy.
To keep families safe on opening night, road closures will be in place on Eastern Beach Road between Cunningham Street and Yarra Street, and Moorabool Street from Brougham Street to Eastern Beach Road. A wet weather contingency plan is ready if required.
The full calendar of events for Christmas in Geelong 2025 will be unwrapped soon. Keep an eye on City of Greater Geelong channels and geelongaustralia.com.au/Christmas
