A Marayong family's heart-warming display in honour of one of their own has been named overall winner of the Blacktown City Christmas lights competition.
The Waters family home in Sofa Street, Marayong, has a giant Santa, snow machine, bright lights and more in honour of their late daughter Sofia.
The Waters family is a great example of the Christmas spirit.
They lost daughter Sofia in 2018, three years after she was born with a congenital heart defect.
Ryan Waters and family setup their display each year to honour their late daughter.
"It was Sofia's favourite time of year. She absolutely loved Christmas," Mr Waters said.
"We want to make sure these lights are bright enough so she can see them from above."
The Waters encourage visitors to their Christmas lights to donate to charities HeartKids and the 22q Foundation. These groups support families dealing with situations like what they endured.
The display was one of the winners from scores of brightly decorated homes entered in the competition.
Blacktown City Mayor Brad Bunting was among the judges and thanked everyone who participated.
"People from across Sydney have travelled to see our community's incredible displays and celebrate the festive season," he said.
"We have many cultures and backgrounds in Blacktown City but we can all share in the meaning of Christmas - giving to others, peace and hope for the future."
