City appoints second General Manager

The City of Perth will be bolstered by the appointment of the current CEO of the Shire of Denmark, Mr Bill Parker, to its Executive Leadership Team.

Mr Parker has accepted the role of General Manager of the Corporate Services Alliance, and is the second of four vacant General Manager positions to be filled.

City of Perth Chief Executive Officer Murray Jorgensen said Mr Parker is an exceptional leader who has had first-hand experience in rebuilding two local government authorities in the past by improving organisational culture, and resolving performance inefficiencies and shortcomings.

"With more than 16 years of local government experience, Mr Parker was the stand out candidate for the role," Mr Jorgensen said.

"I am excited at the prospect of Mr Parker starting with the City to assist us in our corporate recovery rebuild, given the historical state of affairs and more recent challenges facing the City.".

Mr Parker said it is an honour to be appointed to the position of General Manager of Corporate Services and I look forward to complementing the other members of the City's new leadership team.

"I am passionate about making a real difference to the state's capital city council and I will draw on my recent experience having successfully undertaken a challenging rebuilding project at the Shire of Denmark" Mr Parker said.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to help rebuild the City of Perth, improve its culture and gain back the trust and confidence of the community."

Mr Parker will begin his role with the City on Monday 21 October 2019. Further General Manager appointments will be announced in due course.
