City conditionally supports mixed use development

A proposed 27 level mixed use development on Pier Street is a step closer, after Commissioners this week voted to recommend to the WA Planning Commission that the application, containing 30% social and affordable housing, be conditionally approved.

Commissioner Andrew Hammond said the proposed development is set to provide Perth with 184 new apartments, and include a restaurant and a community shared space.

"The City of Perth understands the growing need for the community to have access to more affordable housing in the CBD," Commissioner Hammond Said.

"This development highlights the need for government and the private sector to work together in providing this type of mixed use development.

"We look forward to seeing this development come to fruition, and provide an affordable option for people to purchase their own home."
