City hunts for Event Producer to stage festival

The City of Greater Geelong is seeking an experienced Event Producer to design and deliver the exciting Surround Sounds Festival 2024.

Surround Sounds Festival 2024 will feature musicians and artists across a range of genres and celebrate the region's love of music and creativity.

The creative event will elevate music, sound and design across Greater Geelong and strengthen our reputation as a live entertainment hub, while supporting our entertainment, hospitality, and tourism industries.

The event is expected to run from Friday 26 April to Sunday 5 May 2024.

An Expression of Interest (EOI) process is underway to find a suitably qualified and experienced consultant/s who will establish the festival as a major cultural event in the lead up to the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Surround Sounds Festival 2024 is tied to our region's long-term goals to expand and support live music, arts and culture.

This major initiative supports the region's 30-year Clever and Creative vision and the Council's 10-year Arts and Cultural Strategy by fostering a clever and creative city-region that has a thriving arts and cultural community.

The City is looking for an Event Producer who has a keen interest in furthering the goals of the community and Council, and creating an inclusive, memorable and impactful creative event.

Applicants will have experience in Event Design and Delivery, an understanding of music and the wider creative industries and curatorial frameworks, local government priorities and planning, and commissioning models.

You can view the EOI online. Applications close at 2:00pm on Thursday 13 April 2023.

Mayor Trent Sullivan

I encourage creatives from Greater Geelong and across Australia to consider applying for the role of Event Producer.

Surround Sounds Festival 2024 is set to delight music lovers of all ages and preferences, recognise our region's unique musical and cultural heritage, and attract visitors to our region.

The role is an amazing opportunity to be part of something big in a UNESCO Creative City of Design that will bring joy to community members and support the music and creative industries, which have done it tough during the pandemic.
