City launches latest Community Leadership Program

We've launched our 2023 Community Leadership Program as part of our commitment to developing skilled and passionate leaders across the region.

Twenty-one participants attended last week's introductory meeting, signaling the beginning of a nine-month interactive experience that comes free of charge and aims to support emerging leaders with personal and professional growth opportunities.

The Community Leadership Program:

  • enhances participants' knowledge and understanding of the Geelong community
  • connects participants with like-minded peers
  • equips participants with knowledge and tools across a range of topics designed to enhance leadership capability.

The program involves nine full-day, face-to-face sessions on the second Wednesday of each month.

It will be delivered in a variety of venues throughout the City of Greater Geelong and concludes with a celebratory graduation ceremony in November.

Greater Geelong Mayor Trent Sullivan

I applauded this year's participants.

Today marks the beginning of a terrific learning opportunity for community members committing to this program.

It's great to see the emerging leaders who have made the decision to come on board and I trust it will be an opportunity for the participants to strengthen their leadership skills.

Deputy Mayor Anthony Aitken
