City of Ballarat active in fire prevention works

What the City of Ballarat has done so far this fire season across the municipality

  • 2103 preseason advice letters sent to vacant land owners, these have been inspected and actioned where required
  • 432 customer service requests have been received since October 2019. Approximately 35 per cent of these were deemed no action were required due to already being cut or not a fire risk
  • 454 Fire Prevention Notices issued to date
  • Thousands of properties inspected
  • Strategic identified fire breaks and fire roads listed in the Municipal Fire Management Plan slashed and completed by 17 December 2019
  • Fire prevention works on council land is ongoing and will continue throughout the Fire Danger Period
  • Continued liaison with CFA and DELWP identifying other possible fire risks
  • Inspections ongoing throughout the Fire Danger Period
  • Non-compliance of Fire Prevention Notices enforcement has started and will continue throughout the Fire Danger Period
