The City of Fremantle is excited to announce the Sport and Recreation Recognition Night, an annual event celebrating the outstanding contributions of our local sport and recreation clubs, volunteers, and players.
This special evening, taking place on the 30 January, 2026, recognises individuals and clubs who have made a significant impact on the Fremantle community, including athletes who have represented their state or country with excellence.
Awards
Nominations are now open for the following awards:
- Volunteer Impact Award - celebrating volunteers whose contributions have strengthened club operations, culture, and community engagement.
- Youth Leadership Award - recognising young members who demonstrate leadership, initiative, and positive influence within their clubs.
- Walyalup Legacy Award - honouring a Fremantle sporting club that has created lasting, transformative impacts on community wellbeing.
Eligibility
- Nominees must be active members of not-for-profit sport and recreation clubs operating within the City of Fremantle.
- The club must primarily service Fremantle residents.
- Eligibility period: 12 January 2025 - 12 January 2026.
- Youth Leadership Award nominees must be under 18.
Selection criteria
Awards will recognise contributions in areas including:
- Community contribution - initiatives that promote inclusivity, wellbeing, and participation.
- Leadership and initiative - mentoring, inspiring others, or addressing club needs proactively.
Nominees do not need to meet every criterion, the awards aim to celebrate meaningful impact across a broad range of contributions.
How to nominate
Sporting clubs are encouraged to submit nominations for outstanding volunteers, young leaders, and clubs that embody the spirit of Fremantle's sporting community.
