The City of Ballarat is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from local organisations and businesses seeking financial assistance to deliver programs, projects and activities that create lasting community and economic benefits for Ballarat.
EOIs for the City Partnerships Program are now open and will close on 29 September. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to lodge a full funding application in early 2027.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves said the City Partnerships Program was an important investment in Ballarat, supporting projects and initiatives that deliver lasting benefits for the community.
"These partnerships support initiatives that strengthen community connections, boost economic activity and contribute to a stronger, more vibrant Ballarat," she said.
"We know there are many organisations doing outstanding work across Ballarat, and this program helps maximise that impact. I encourage eligible organisations and businesses looking to partner with the City of Ballarat to submit an Expression of Interest."
The City Partnerships Program is designed for organisations with a proven track record of delivering programs, projects or activities that provide measurable community and economic outcomes for Ballarat.
Funding is available across two funding streams, with both offering the opportunity for multi-year agreements of up to three years.
Community Stream
- Available for not-for-profit organisations based in Ballarat. Funding of up to $100,000 per applicant, per financial year.
Commercial Stream
Open to businesses and not-for-profit organisations. Projects must deliver benefits to the Ballarat municipality. Funding of more than $20,000 is available, with no upper limit.
Applications are assessed against criteria including community benefit, economic impact, value for money and alignment with Ballarat's strategic priorities outlined in the 2025-2029 Council Plan.
One of the successful recipients in the previous funding round was the Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute. They received support for a three-year Marketing and Community Reach Project.
Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute President, Paula Nicholson said the City Partnerships funding would help strengthen the organisation's connection with the community.
"The three-year Marketing and Community Reach Project will strengthen our ability to connect with more people across Ballarat and ensure this historic community asset remains vibrant, accessible and sustainable for future generations," she said.
"This investment is not only about growing BMI's reach. It's about building lasting community connection, supporting local culture and helping activate the Ballarat CBD.
"We would strongly encourage other not-for-profit organisations to apply for the City Partnerships Program, as funding opportunities like this provide a valuable chance to build organisational capacity, increase community impact and deliver long-term benefits that might otherwise be beyond reach."
