City Seeks Members for Emergency Planning Committee

The Surf Coast Shire Municpal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) is seeking two community members to join its committee.

The MEMPC is a multi-agency group that shapes how the Surf Coast Shire community prepares for, responds to and recovers from emergencies. This collaborative committee is the peak emergency management planning body for Surf Coast, established under the Emergency Management Legislation Amendment Act.

Who the committee is looking for

No emergency management background is required. The committee is looking for people who:

• Have strong links to the Surf Coast Shire community

• Understand the diversity of local communities and the risks they face

• Can contribute constructively and represent broad community interests

What's involved?

• Four meetings per year (approx. two hours each, held in Torquay with hybrid options)

• Occasional reading between meetings.

The two-year term commences May 2026. This is a voluntary position.
