Federation Council is pleased to advise that the limited mobility lift at the Corowa Civic Centre is now operational.

The lift is a personal access lift type and not a traditional multi-storey lift. This style of lift is different to traditional type of lift and does not need a lift well and will be less susceptible to damage in a flood.

Corowa resident Pat Brody was the first to access the new lift following Council's monthly meeting in May.

"I am delighted to see that the lift is finally operational," she said.

"This is a great thing for our community and will make access to the Civic Centre even easier for those with limited mobility."

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Pat Bourke said Council was pleased to announce the completion of this long awaited project.

"Unfortunately with COVID, the delivery of this project was held up substantially as our contractors were from out of state," he said.

"Council is pleased to now have the limited mobility lift operational to assist entry to our Civic Centre Building. I would like to take this opportunity to formally thank the community for their patience, as well as thank Council staff who have worked tirelessly on this project to ensure its delivery. This lift has been a long term project that was underdevelopment before merger so it is great to see it delivered and operational."
