Wagga Wagga City Council hopes its newest and brightest Christmas activation will help guide visitors right into the heart of the CBD this festive season.
As part of its 2019 festive season program, Council has unveiled a large scale, 3-star installation in the Civic Centre forecourt to enhance the Christmas experience for visitors and locals alike.
Visitor Economy and Events Coordinator Fiona Hamilton believes the attractive new installation has an important role to play in drawing people into the main street in the lead-up to Christmas.
"These stars are designed to enable community members and visitors to interact with the installation by taking photographs, tagging their friends and sharing their pictures," she said.
The Christmas stars are designed to complement the beautifully lit Cyprus Pine across the road in the Victory Memorial Gardens and the five pedestrian crossings in Baylis Street between the Civic Centre and Edward Street.
"Together, these activations, in close proximity to each other, further add to the vibrancy of the city… enhancing the community and visitor experience," Ms Hamilton said.
"We hope visitors will enjoy the ambience as they make the most of our city's many dining and retail opportunities throughout December."
Council's not just relying on lighting to set the mood, tone and ambience this festive season, with a number of new activations to add to the city's appeal.
"We'll have local musicians performing live music gigs in three locations along Baylis Street each Saturday between now and Christmas," Ms Hamilton said.
"This is an opportunity to engage with our youth and give them a platform to share their talent with a wide audience."
Visitors and residents will also notice new triangular street guards, bin covers and barrier fencing in locations along Fitzmaurice and Baylis Street.
"Another highlight for families will be the Christmas projection on the side of the Civic Centre," Ms Hamilton said.
"The projection will showcase a series of animated Christmas messages."
