Clairview south of Mackay - bushfire 22 August

Rural Fire Service (RFS) crews remain on scene at a bushfire burning south of Mackay in the Clairview area. The fire is located west of the Bruce Highway, adjacent to Clairview. Overnight, crews conducted backburning operations to contain the blaze. Crews are continuing to monitor the situation today. The fire is posing no threat to property at this time, however it continues to produce a large amount of thick smoke and motorists are advised to drive to conditions. Nearby residents may be affected by a smoke haze and are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by. If residents are concerned their property is under threat, they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
