Minister for Education Grace Grace has congratulated more than 48,000 Year 12 graduates from across Queensland who have received their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and OP scores.
While formal certificates will start arriving in the post from next week, graduates can access their results and OPs online from today by logging into their account on the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) Student Connect website (https://studentconnect.qcaa.qld.edu.au).
Ms Grace said the future was bright for the class of 2018, who could now turn their focus to entering university, starting a trade or moving straight into the workforce.
"Results show the class of 2018 worked to a consistently high standard, with 94 per cent of graduates achieving a QCE," Ms Grace said.
"That is a fantastic result and I congratulate the students for their efforts.
"The QCE is an internationally-recognised qualification that records student achievement in school courses, vocational education and training, workplace learning and university subjects.
"I’d also like to pay tribute to the teachers who have played a very important role in helping students reach their potential."
Ms Grace said graduates who may not be satisfied with their results still have options.
"Students can upgrade their results or explore other ways to gain entry to university and training courses. There’s no need to be disheartened," she said.
Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman encouraged graduates to consider a pathway in TAFE.
"There are 160 qualifications on offer for free to all year 12 graduates in Queensland," Ms Fentiman said.
"Courses offered are in high priority industries such as hospitality, engineering, aviation and construction, providing opportunities for successful and exciting careers."
QCAA Chief Executive Officer Chris Rider said Certificates of Academic Commendation would be sent to a record 1073 graduates who received Very High Achievement (VHA) in at least 24 semesters of Authority subjects (the equivalent of six VHAs).
"The commendation is the first category to be awarded in the annual Queensland Certificate of Education Achievement Awards," Mr Rider said.
"Winners in a further six categories, including Queensland’s highest achieving student, will be announced in February."
